The MacNorris glossary.

We have our own language. Here's what we mean when we talk about the jersey, the quarterback or simply getting it done. Every term briefly explained, with a link to the page that covers it in depth.

A to Z

Our terms.

Sorted A to Z. Every term has its own address, for example #discovery-sprint.

Build in public
We show how we work, mistakes included. On MacNorris TV we build real projects on camera, and whatever goes wrong stays in. More
Discovery sprint
Our answer to the discovery phase. In the first week we're in your systems and with your people, then we build. Days instead of months. More
Fail fast
Finding mistakes early enough that they cost little. For us that means a prototype in 48 hours instead of a concept over months. More
High agency
Not waiting for permission. Whoever sees a problem solves it or makes sure it gets solved. The core of simply getting it done. More
The jersey
We're never outsiders and never spectators. Anyone who works with us notices by day two at the latest. More
MacGyver meets Chuck Norris
Where our name comes from: think like MacGyver, creatively and with what's there, and push through like Chuck Norris, without excuses. More
Offensive line
The position that clears the way: data silos, broken processes and software nobody wants to touch anymore. More
Owner
The one person who makes sure a task gets done. A name, not a team. The owner doesn't have to do everything personally. More
The Playbook
Our company culture, written down: five positions and 18 ground rules. Not a mission statement, but how we actually work. More
Problem solving uncut
What we call what happens on MacNorris TV: real problems and real solutions, uncut and with every glitch. More
Quarterback
The position that knows both sides of the field, business and IT, and adjusts the play during the game. Robert's role at MacNorris. More
Rapid consulting
Consulting that delivers results in weeks instead of quarters. We share the idea. But we don't consult, we build. More
Running back
The position where planning stops and doing starts: take the ball and run. More
Simply getting it done
Our attitude. Starting instead of planning endlessly, because results can be talked about, plans only debated. Results are something we can refine and improve. More
Special teams
Targeted play when a project is stuck and time is running out. On-site, focused, until it works. More
Weeks, not quarters
Our yardstick for speed. What others plan as a quarterly project, we build in weeks, often as a prototype in 48 hours. More
